New Year Same Ol’ Fishing Charter Company

Ohana Fishing Charters will never change. We are a deep sea fishing charter company that will always be consistent in trying our hardest to get ya on the fish. Kauai deep sea sport fishing can definitely have it’s ups and downs but it can be one of the best things you do when on the beautiful island of Kauai. Sport fishing is just like any other sport, there are winners and losers. Many avid fisher people can exclaim the wonderment of fishing. It’s completely competitive, man vs fish! Ya always have to remember you are out there to fish & hopefully catch. Again, not for the faint at heart ever.

A new year is here and so are we! The holiday season seemed to fly bye, island was so busy. With many visitors on Kauai wanting to enjoy a little time on the water with family and friends, maybe a special Christmas fishing trip. Unfortunately for many & I mean many visitors expecting to have a fun holiday family fishing adventure,they didn’t. For the first time in a very long time we experienced a normal winter. We have been cancelling fishing charters for the past three weeks or so, unsafe weather isn’t something we mess around with at all. We were able to get out a total of five days thus far. On those days we killed it! We caught Yellow Fin tunas, Skip Jack tuna & Marlin! It’s a crying shame to have to cancel for our guests and us. But the phones are ringing and things are looking up as we are getting many advanced bookings all the way til Summer time. So if you want to fish with some of the best while here on Kauai please book ahead of time.

Deep sea sport fishing is definitely a lot of fun, even I think so and I get really sea sick but I go cause I am competitive kinda. I discovered this one time while we were out. We’d been fishing for about four hours, chasing birds and closely watching fish finder. Poor Capt. (dad) Lance got out numbered when we all said we wanted to fish. LOL He hardly likes to spend his free time back on the water fishing. Any how my meds were wearing off and he asks if I’m ready to go in. I replied “nope I don’t wanta give up yet”. There were birds off in the distance as he chanted “one more drive through the birds”. Lucky we did, oh yeah a triple strike Ahi wrangling was on! Myself, our 9 yr old & older son’s girlfriend secured our poles and the fight was on. We listened to the instruction from Captain Lance as our older boy crewed helping all three of us! OMG is all I can say, it was exhilarating, I was screaming with pure joy and sore arms. Yep the crazy mom, they were all laughing at me. Moral of the story is to always give it one last try. Cause ya never really know do ya unless you try. That one more run through the birds yielded us our first Ahi (100+) each. We won that day needless to say, GO TEAM!
