All I can say is “ugh”!!! The past five months has handed us some unfavorable weather conditions to say the least. We did have a banging Summer season regardless of the ocean conditions and thank God we did or we’d be living on the beach. We kept booking as usual w/ many visitors prebooked to ensure they got out with us. When bad weather comes we take it day by day & often up to that very morning w/ a 4:30am text going out to say yes or no. We have learned in the past that the weather can change for the better. LOL I have to laugh because when it comes to fishing on the ocean you just can’t rely on your local news at all! They don’t check the bouys for swell and a lot of time they’re doing a generalized forecast for whole state.
Okay, so we have been cancelling a lot! We are definitely loosing our butts right now. But when we do get out there fishing has been good and our guests are happy! Fishing is fishing, some days we’ll catch a ton of fish and others can be a bit slow. We have seen a shift in visitors as the school year has begun. With weekly threats of hurricanes it hasn’t really helped much but the phones are ringing for the holiday season and people are booking into next Summer. Ha ha ha guess they wanta be totally on top of it right? Good way to be if you are an avid fisher person.
We have a solid record and people seem to really like what we are doing here at Ohana Fishing Charters. Our crew is the best and gives it their 100% each and every time whether we catch or not, it’s never ever for the lack of trying. So please tip these guys! Proof is in the pudding, which in this case is reliable reviews on review sights. Some guests base tipping on whether they catch or not and that’s just not right!! Yes I am talking about this right now because it needs to be talked about. Every time my husband Captain Lance says we worked our tails off trying to get fish to the boat ans they didn’t tip it breaks my heart. Because that crew kid is like a son to me.
The good thing is 90% of most people have some tact & know that it’s proper etiquette to tip regardless. Would you not tip you waiter/waitress who took care of you for lets say two hours? (this is for all charter co’s out there) Hmmm… Capt. Lance would probably be mad that I wrote this is here. I am not doing this to be tacky it’s just the opposite. I basically wanta scold or sound off to those who do that. I am the mama bear of this operation so I can stand up for my crew!
Lets keep it light here, if you want a good time with experienced crew who have a great reputation then choose us, it’s that simple. We are gearing up for Fall/Winter, maintaining that boat like our lives depend on it, which it does. Most important is upkeeping to keep all you safe while we slay some fish. We are good at what we do and we’d love to have you join us. Just give me a call if you have any questions, Hawaii standard time please?
Mahalo Aloha & Blessings,
Cynthia Keener
I’m really impressed with your writing talents and also with the layout to your blog. Is this a paid theme or did you customize it yourself? Anyway keep up the nice high quality writing, it’s uncommon to look a great weblog like this one these days.
